Dr. Siegal’s Cookie Diet is a diet plan created by Dr. Sanford Siegal that uses hunger reducing cookies to help you lose weight. Dr. Siegal is a physician specializing in weight loss who has helped more than half a million people reach their weight loss goals since 1975. Dr. Siegal invented his cookies as a way to help his patients fight hunger while trying to lose weight.

Eating Cookies to Lose Weight Can’t Be For Real!

The first thing most people think when they hear about a diet based around cookies is that it’s some crazy nonsense that could never work. Well that’s true if it were normal cookies that you were eating, after those are probably what helped you gain weight in the first place I know I’ve eaten more than my fair share. The cookies you eat on Dr. Siegal’s Cookie Diet however are specially made cookies that are designed to fight hunger and keep you feeling full even though you ate very little. For exam

ple his cookies are only about 90 calories but are claimed to have a satiety index of 240 calories, basically that means that you feel like you ate a 240 calorie meal after eating one of these cookies. I even read a quote from one lady saying that she “forgot to eat lunch she was so full” after trying a cookie that morning.

How Did These Cookies Come About?

Dr. Siegal is a physician who helps people lose weight and he noticed that hunger was the primary reason people were having trouble sticking to a diet plan. A fact that I’m sure you can relate to. So Dr. Siegal spent a lot of time researching what makes the body feel full and not and hungry and not and tried a bunch of different types of compounds that he thought could help. Eventually after trying all this out on his family he came up with a unique blend of amino acids that helped to control hunger and he decided that he’d bake them into a cookie as that way they’d be easy to carry and store. Since then Dr. Siegal has expanded the line to include shakes and soups as well as cookies and over 500,000 people have used Dr. Siegal’s cookies to help them reach their weight loss goals. Not bad for a bunch of cookies.

Ok So How Does Dr. Siegal’s Cookie Diet Work Anyway?

One thing you should be aware of is that Dr. Siegal’s Cookie Diet, as described on their website, is not really a proper diet but more of a tool that you can use to help you reach your goals. As such they recommend you use the cookies to help you fight hunger and stay within the restrictions of whatever diet plan you’re currently on. As such the Dr. Siegal’s Cookie Diet is not just a single diet but these cookies are very helpful on many different diet plans as they are a low calorie way to help you fight hunger and stick to your program. You should note however that since these cookies are made from rice and sugar they may not work so well for you if you are on a low carbohydrate diet plan, but would work well if you’re on a low calorie or low fat diet plan.

Even though Dr. Siegal’s Cookie Diet is not really a complete diet they do go on to describe how these cookies are typically used by Dr. Siegal’s patients on a plan that could be adapted to your needs. Basically what you would do is eat six of these cookies each day to fight off your hunger and then have a healthy dinner of about 500 calories with some chicken or fish. By doing this you are able to lose weight since that will all add up to about 1000 calories per day and you should also not be hungry which will help you stick to your plan and focus on your goal. Along with the cookies you also have the option of replacing 2 cookies with a shake that they sell which has the same amino acid formula or replacing one cookie with a soup that they sell a mix for.

So What are These Cookies Like? I Bet They’re Nasty?

I bet I know what you’re thinking, you think these cookies must taste awful. Well it turns out they’re actually pretty good though possibly not as delicious as a fresh warm baked chocolate chip cookie but if you’re like me those are what got us into this situation in the first place. I’ve even heard some people say the cookies were quite delicious and since they’re several flavors to choose from you should be able to find a favorite with little problem. The flavors of cookie you can get are: oatmeal raisin, chocolate, blueberry, coconut and banana. While the flavors of shake available are: chocolate, crème brulee, vanilla, strawberry and pina colada.

Is Dr. Siegal’s Cookie Diet Right For Me?

Ultimately as for Dr. Siegal’s Cookie Diet I don’t know if I’d recommend jumping right into the diet of just eating the cookies and one meal a day but I would definitely recommend trying these cookies out as a diet aid on your diet unless you are following a low carb plan. Having a tasty cookie with a very low calorie amount that can help fight off hunger will be a really big help on any low calorie diet plan as I find that hunger really is the hardest part of any diet.
